Ingredients for 10 hot dogs:

Preparation:

Let the hot dog buns thaw at room temperature for 50–70 minutes. Alternative: Preheat the oven to 220 °C and bake the buns at 180 °C for 2–5 minutes with a little steam.

Heat water in a pot, add the sausages, and let them simmer gently for 5 minutes. Cut off one end of each sausage. On the other end, cut out a flat, rounded rectangle to form the “nail bed.” Just above it, make several small notches in the middle and at the end of the sausage to create “finger joints.”

Fill the hot dog buns with pickles and fried onions. Place one “sausage finger” inside each bun. Drizzle some ketchup over the sausages and onto the “nail bed.” Place one almond flake on each nail bed as the “fingernail” and press it down – your creepy Halloween hot dog is ready to serve!
