History

In 1951 Anton Meitinger founded the company Wollbacher Brot GmbH in the Swabian town of Zusmarshausen initially as a new small country bakery.
Rapid expansion followed. In 1965 in Hochdorf-Eberdingen and in 1975 in Freiburg further branches were opened. Through specialization in frozen bakery products Wollbacher GmbH was able to establish itself in further markets. In 1987 a new production plant was erected in Neunkirchen which marked the beginning of the era: EDNA Tiefkuehlkost GmbH as a subsidiary of Wollbacher.

In 1990 a production plant in Delitzsch near Leipzig was incorporated into the group of companies. This plant was later in 1995 replaced by a new, modern production plant in nearby Brehna. Even in early days, a number of sales outlets were set up in other European countries - at present there are four of these - in order to supply customers there reliably. Best quality and extensive service were the fundamental principles which still remain unchanged today when his sons Edgar and Norbert Meitinger manage the continuing further development of the company.

EDNA – always one step ahead
EDNA International GmbH produces and distributes frozen bakery products, fine foods and non food products for all branches in the sectors HoReCa and Bake-Off. With more than 1,000 different bakery products and over 8,500 service articles EDNA supplies the largest full range of frozen bakery goods in Germany. Many new products are added every year as the range is steadily expanded. The company is well able to react quickly to new circumstances and meet the changes in consumer appetites.

The success of EDNA products is in the first instance due to their consistent top quality. Professional handling of the wares at every stage of work processes, qualified personnel in all divisions and departments and selected suppliers in Germany and in other countries guarantee top quality and ensure standards. EDNA International is certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001/2000 as well as with IFS and BRC and is subject to external controls at regular intervals. In addition, EDNA is certified for organic products. Moreover, the company has operated since 1997 according to the HACCP Concept, an internal control system specified by law in order to identify possible risks and thus exclude potential errors in preparation, processing, production, packaging, storage and distribution.
